Which Biometric Solution to Choose?

The new generation of biometric readers offers a number of significant advantages over the conventional card scanners. For the matter of time and attendance tracking, we will concentrate our discussion on fingerprint and hand readers. The primary difference of the two lies in the scanning technique. While fingerprint readers rely solely on the quality of a fingerprint reading, hand readers take a few extra things into account. In particular, handpunch devices record shape and volume of the user’s hand, making sure the reading is not affected by dirt, humid or any other workplace characteristics. As time goes by and hand properties might change (aging, finger thickening, injuries etc.), a handpunch device automatically adjusts its data to provide most accurate readings. As a result, it is extremely important to consider the working environment where you plan to implement a biometric reader before making the purchase. Here are the two rules of thumb we always advise to our customers:

Use fingerprint readers for clean office-like environments where employees would normally have clean hands.

Use handpunch devices for any type of non-office environments as: warehouses, restocking facilities, cleaning services, manufacturing, car shops etc.
